Mattress Buying Tips for the confused Mattress Shopper. Lets face it, Mattresses have evolved about as much as cars when it comes to new technology. What happened to the time when you went to buy a Mattress and they said, "you want firm or soft" and that was truly your options.
Mattress Company's are all scampering for top spot and to get there they need the shiniest new model. There are a myriad of choices so which is the best...Air, Water, Cool Gel, Memory Foam, Comfort Gel, Latex, Foams, Inner-Springs, Wrapped Coils, Foam Encased, Layered Foams, Individually Wrapped Coils, Firm Memory Foam, Soft Memory Foam, Tempur Material, and the list goes on and on. If this is not enough, you hear 20% off, 50% off, 99% off, Free Delivery, Remove Old Mattress, Mow Your Lawn...ok, I threw that one in, but you get the idea.
Mattress Buying Tip #1. Your body is the ONLY body that knows the best Mattress for you. What I mean, everyone has a different comfort preference, so I cannot tell you which is best for you. Some customers like Firm Mattresses and some like Soft, some like the feel of the new materials and some prefer traditional Mattresses.
Mattress Buying Tip #2. Make sure the Mattress Company you are dealing with has a Comfort Guarantee. You will see companies offer 30, 60, 90, or even 120 day comfort guarantee's. Make sure you give your new Mattress time before calling the store. It could take up to 30 days for your body to get used to a new Mattress.
Mattress Buying Tip #3. The biggest and best Mattress Buying Tip I can give you is, do not expect too much out of your Mattress. To put it bluntly, Mattresses are not made to last a lifetime. It is good to replace your Mattress at least every 10 Years. Mattress Company's will put a Warranty or a Life Expectancy number on Mattresses which should give you a clue as when to replace.
Mattress Buying Tip #4. When speaking of Mattress Tips, I think it would be a good idea to talk about Warranties. What does a Warranty cover? When speaking of a Mattress, there is really only one thing that can go wrong, severe sagging. Before you start to call the Mattress Store you purchased your Mattress from, let me explain. Mattresses over time will show body impressions and the more quilting on top of your Mattress, the more body impression it will show. Most Mattress Companies allow 1 1/2 inch of body impression to consider it normal wear. Many factors can affect this sagging, to include weight, improper rotation, improper storage, just to name a few. Are there legitamate Mattress flaws, Yes. Another factor to consider on your Mattress Warranty is cleanliness of your Mattress. Always buy a Mattress Protector with your New Mattress to protect your investment. A small water spot on your Mattress can void your Warranty.
Mattress Buying Tip #5. Check with a Mattress Specialty Store. These Mattress Stores have popped up everywhere, but they only deal in Mattresses so you know they know what they are doing. Furniture Stores will sell Mattresses to compliment Bedroom Suits, but Mattress Specialty Stores only sell Mattesses and will probably have more room to make sure you get the best price because of quantity discounts. Dont be afraid to throw out an offer on the New Mattress.
These are just 5 quick tips to think about when buying a Mattress. I will go more in depth on how to select, how to get the best price, and how to make sure you sleep like a Queen or King.
