Mattress Buying Tips and Reviews

Mattress Buying can be a daunting process, but with the right information, you can pick a Mattress that will give you many years of quality sleep.  There are a few questions to ask yourself before you go shopping for a New Mattress.

What Mattress Size do you need?
Mattresses come in many sizes and can affect the way you sleep.  If you and your partner toss and turn, you may want to consider a king size set to allow room to move around.  Being too cramped on a smaller Mattress can cause you to wake more often and not sleep as well.  Here are the Mattress Sizes that are standard, no matter what company you are shopping.
Twin-
39" wide x 75" long
Full-
54" wide x 75" long
Queen-
60" wide x 80" long
King-
76" wide x 80" long

What is Your Mattress Budget?
When thinking of a budget to spend on your New Mattress, realize that Mattresses can start in the hundred of dollars to well into the thousands.  There will be some quality choices in every price range, but some of the newer technologies and more popular companies can be quite expensive.

What is your Comfort Level?
It sounds cliche, but if you have been shopping for a Mattress, I am sure you have heard the question.  Do you want soft or firm?  This is an important question, but Consider this before you answer.  Many Mattress customers feel they need a firm Mattress because they have a bad back.  the fact is, they need more support than their current Mattress is giving.  You have a comfort layer in a Mattress which is how firm or soft the Mattress feels.  But, there is a support layer under the comfort layer, whether it be inner spring, latex, memory foam, or whatever the company uses to support their comfort layer.  You may not need as firm a Mattress as what you may think.

What Company Interests me?
There are many Mattress Manufacturers to consider, there are the "S" brands like Serta, Sealy, Simmons, there is your Tempur-Pedic Memory Foam, Select Comfort, and countless other smaller manufacturers that make a great product.  My suggestion, dont get too caught up in the company unless you have just read terrible reviews because they all used similar materials and processes in making their mattresses.  Something to consider, these larger well known companies are well known because of their national advertising.  This advertising is expensive and guess who pays for it?  You guessed it, it has to be passed along with the prices of these mattresses.

Does the Mattress come with a Comfort Guarantee?
Just about all of your name brand mattresses come with some sort of Comfort Guarantee.  This gives you a chance to swap the mattress for another selection within a given time period, usually 30-90 days.  There may be a restocking fee, but it would be worth it to make sure you are going to be happy with the mattress you selected.

Does the Mattress have a Warranty?
Again, most name brand mattresses are going to have a warranty, but make sure it is a non-prorated warranty.  This means that it is 100% protected for the number of year warranty.  Mattress warranties will cover body impressions and you never know when you may have to take advantage of such warranty.  I have heard of bad batches of foams that caused body impressions in many of the same model mattress.

These are just a few Mattress Buying Tips and Reviews that will get you started in the right direction of sleeping better which is the ultimate goal.  The one suggestion I have is to buy a Mattress Protector to cover your mattress because any stain could void your warranty.  Also, realize when shopping for your new mattress that many retailers carry the same mattress, but it may have a different name.  If you have 2 retailers in a close proximaty, the company will change covers and names so that shoppers cannot price shop as much.  This is done so that mattress companies can sell more accounts for a given area.
